William F. Thompson was born in 1816 in North Carolina. He moved with his family (John Thompson and 15 others in his household in 1840-- possibly including domestic help?) to Bedford County, where he would later meet Harriet P. Hall, who was born in Tennessee in 1820. They were married around 1842 in Bedford County. To this marriage, they were blessed with four children before Harriet passed away in 1850, leaving William F to be a young father on his own. The children were Angus J (1841-?), Thomas Christopher (1843-1924), Samuel M (1846-?), and George Nilson (1848-?).
TC Thompson served in the Civil War in the 23rd Regiment, TN Confederate Infantry and served for 19 months. Thomas Christopher Thompson would later marry Nancy Achsah King, whose father was farming not too much farther than the next train stop down the line.
Achsah Nancy King was born 5 Sept 1848 in Haley Station community, Bedford County (Civil District 2). Her parents, Charles Brandon King and Mary Cyrene McQuiddy were married locally in 1843. Mary McQuiddy had been born in Kentucky, but moved to Tennessee as one of 9 kids in her family.

| Survey of District 2 Land Owners as of 1878. T C Thompson is just south of the Railroad along the river (end of Bugscuffle Road), and C. B. King is north of the railroad closer to Cortner's Station (Corner of Red Hill Road and New Road). |
TC and Achsah Nancy were married on 22 November 1866, and were parents to 8 children:
Mary Belle (1867-1908) (m. William Scott Russell)
Harriet Viriginia (1869-1921) (m. S.L. Waggoner)
Charles F (1871-1952) (m. Nancy Troxler)
James Benjamin (1873-1943) ("Jim" m. Mary Francis "Fannie" Holt down at Pigtail End)
Sarah Elizabeth (1875-1879) (died at age 3 1/2)
Robert Eugene (1877-1940) (m. Ada Reba Conwell)
Thomas Emmett (1880-1906) (Died in a railroad accident at age 26.)
George Ernest (1881-1940) (m. Virginia Elizabeth "Jennie" Roberts)
They farmed down at the end of Bugscuffle Road. Thomas was a farmer by trade. His grandson (my Papa) said that he was the type that "picked up a stick at 40 and said he was 95"-- meaning he retired and quit working. Perhaps, in part, this was due to family tragedy that struck. When Thomas was about 39, and George E. was only 6 months old, Achsah died (1882, age 34), leaving T.C. with a large family to raise on his own.
As such, T.C. soon married Maggie A. Rankin (of Ohio?) (1853-bef 1920). They called her "Baby Granny" because she was so small and she could sit in a child's rocker. Together, they added another two children to the family.
Jennie Ruth (1888-1951) (m. Thomas Broome)
Agnes Christopher (1891-1972) (m. Clyde Johnson, moved to Texas)
Thomas Christopher Thompson died on 12 November 1924 at age 81, listed on his death record as a widower. He was living with his son Charles as of the 1920 Census, and Charles was the informant on the death record. He was buried in the McQuiddy Cemetery (His mother-in-law's family Cemetery listed HERE as the Thompson Cemetery).
