On Tuesday,
we learned about
bones
in our preschool.

To more clearly demonstrate our skeletal structure,
we had the kids learn about each bone
and then we taped them right on their bodies.

Then we took some other bones
and made letters with them.

Ever wanted to know how long it takes to cut out
that many bones?
I can't be quite sure...but I can say that it just
happens
to be the amount of time that
Dancing With the Stars
takes...
....minus commercials.
(thank you DVR).

Ahhhh.....

It's fall in New England.

Finally.

You know, there's a reason some of us move to New England.
And that reason is not for the hot summers.
Personally, I'd trade the summer for winter any day.

You can quote me on that.
Really.

Anyway.
Back at the ranch...

Let's start out with some uber-cuteness,
courtesy of the Blakester
and my first-born-in-the-wilderness:

We went on our annual go-get-bushels-and-bushels-of-apple-seconds day...
We came home with two bushels of macs and a bushel of galas.
...And I remembered why we usually only stick with the macs.
They process soooo well!

Apple day also fell on free museum day...
...So we headed over to Acton to their Children's Museum.
It was wonderful.

Here's the haul...
...and below that is my first-born reaping the benefits.

Our new camera came yesterday.

So I needed a willing model to help me practice.

Ian was more than obliging.

I dare you to find a more handsome child.

He's a thumb-sucker.

And don't forget:
{quoted from a previous post}

I finally got with the program.

Spotlight

onnnnnnnnnn.........

Ian!

In our ward's Primary, they spotlight a child each Sunday...
And I was delighted to get waved into Primary closing exercises
from paying attention in Relief Society wandering the halls with a fussy baby.

He was so excited.

Here's my spotlight boy after church....
and below is the note that was taped to the back:

At the beginning of the year, they had all of the children write nice things about all of their classmates...and the hand-written part of the note is the list of kind things that Ian's fellow Sunbeams said about him.

I agree with them all....
...especially the part about having soft hair.

I asked him what he wanted to eat for his special "Spotlight Dinner."
So here we have chicken & rice casserole,
corn on the cob,
and zucchini chocolate cake.
(Ian did the name cards).

We so love our
SPECIAL BOY!

And not to leave you hanging about our other special boy,
Blake's eyes are getting bluer and bluer by the day.

Blake had his six-month check-up today.

Six Months.

OY.

Here are the stats:

Weight: 22lbs (97th percentile)
Height: 29.75" (off the charts...)
Cuteness: (see height)

Remember?
Do you remember the day Blake was born?

I sure do.

He looked like this:

And then....somewhere along the way...
Six Months Went By.
(Well, five months and 27 days, to be exact.)

Not to mention,
*the boy*
is cutting teeth like it's going out of style.

So after a long day of the fussies,
well,
I gave him a new gnawing option:

HE LOVED IT.

And then he proceeded to
scream
{SCREAM}
at me when I took it away.

So we realized that
THIS BOY IS READY FOR SOLIDS.

We whipped up some rice cereal.
(have you ever made your own?
A PLEASURE.)

Annnnnnnnnnnnnd

Here you go:

I hope he enjoys it.
Cause his poop is never
going to be the same again.
{insert frown}

P.S.
