Allen Burgess
Allen was the only known child of Isaiah Burgess (1797-1846) and Betsey Phillips (1801-??), both born in Harwich, Barnstable, MA. His father died when he was just 13, and he lived with his mother in Harwich at least until 1855 Census when he was 22. It appears that Betsey lived as a widow for the rest of her days in Harwich, though she died in Chatham.
Emily Buck Nickerson
Emily was the daughter of Seth Nickerson (1798-1887) and Rosanna Buck Crowell (1808-1850). She lived on Seth's farm (worth $2700) in Chatham. Her youngest brother John was born on the 18th of October, and perhaps due to complications of that pregnancy, her mother died on 30 October when she was 11.
Half-Siblings: Her father had been married before to Deborah Nickerson (1797-1832), m 1820. Deborah is buried in the Come-Outers Cemetery in Chatham.

As of 1855, Seth Jr, Emily, and John were living with father Seth Nickerson (56, Seaman) in Chatham.
By 1860, Seth only had 9 year old John left at home to raise.
Life Together
Allen (26) and Emily (20) married on 17 November, 1859 in Chatham, MA. Allen was already a mariner. They were married by the Justice of the Peace, Warren Rogers.
As newlyweds, they took residence at Harwich, MA, as recorded by the 1860 Census.
By 1870, they had begun to grow their family. Allen was a seaman, spending his time fishing. They owned their house, worth $500.

Allen Burgess died in 1886, of Typhoid Fever at age 51. He was a mariner living in Chatham, died while visiting Carver, MA, and was later buried in Chatham.
His son Allen H had moved to Providence with his wife, Rebecca C Hardy Burgess in the 1890s after daughter Eva was born and died of cholera of 13 months old, and became a street railway inspector (1910), ultimately having two more children.
There are a few newspaper clippings for Emily B Burgess, as well:
1898: Had a severe cold, was confined to her house for a few days.
1898: Went to Harwich for a few days to spend Thanksgiving.

As of 1900, Emily (60) lived with her son John (29, single), who was working as a fisherman.
Emily lived with Ella(42) and her second husband Wesley E Smith (41, fisherman, own boat) in 1910.
Emily died in 1919 of pneumonia at age 79, and was buried at the Come Outers Cemetery.
Her son John continued on single, leaving the fishing industry to do odd jobs (1910), general labor (1920), (1930,, 58, S, painter, Bar Cliff Avenue)
