Lately....
(Warning!! Long post ahead!!)
We'll start off with this week's CSA share (or, I'll remind you, half share).
It really does make my heart skip a beat when I'm going through it every week.
I will admit, however, that I'm getting to that place where I'll probably be happy when lettuce season is over.
Cause we're eating a lot of lettuce...
This week's crate came with the usual early summer stuff (lettuce, beets, scallions), but also had some new stuff (summer squash, onions, potatoes, cucumbers, carrots, basil, purple kohlrabi).
We're. In. Love.
On the Saturday before the 4th of July, Joe took Ian and Blake for a walk/ride down at Horn Pond.
Fun was had by all.
On the Monday 4th holiday, we decided to escape the heat of the greater-Boston metro area and head down to visit my grandparents on the Cape. It was a quadruple bonus, as well, because my parents were there along with out-of-town-visiting aunts and uncles from Colorado and Mississippi). We got about a 15-degree heat drop (bonus!!) and some fantastic company for the day.
Ian started swimming lessons last week (4x/week for 2 weeks).
And this was certainly the week to start--if you've seen our weather for the past week, you'll know what I mean.
Also during our week-of-boiling-temperatures, we've been spending a lot of time in my bedroom (where the best air conditioning is).
Ian cuddled up with a favorite book (thanks, Valerie!)
The boys posed for an obligatory picture
Ian let me know what he thought about my evening photo shoot
Blake got some tummy time...
...and rewarded us with a smile
...and then spent some time patched.
Here's to hoping that next week doesn't qualify for sidewalk egg frying.
I'll take a Boston snow storm any day over the heat of the past week.
Go ahead. Quote me on that in January. I dare ya.
=)
You CSA box really did photograph well. And, oh! Those carrots!
ReplyDeleteYum!
ReplyDeleteI love Blake's eye patch. It's kind of like sunglasses, well, at least for one eye. He should wear it outside all the time.
Ian is such a safety conscious boy. Either that or he's just too lazy to take off his bike helmet ;-).
Your boys are adorable!
Careful what you wish for, Jen....Chances are good you'll get it!
ReplyDeleteLove the photos. I, too, spent the weekend of the 4th on the Cape...and loved every second!
We did head back into Boston for the fireworks and the crowds. The fireworks were spectacular (best I've ever seen)...the crowds, not so much.
I am so on board with you re: the winter/summer thing. As much as I hate scraping ice off my car, I hate ALWAYS SWEATING infinitely more. Today the inside of my elbow was constantly sweating. SO GROSS. And it's only 82 today. Blah.
ReplyDeleteIs there a magical place where it never dips below 40 and never gets above 75? Because I am SO THERE.
