It's so much fun moving into a new house.

Honestly. It's like getting a new car, or a new bike, or a new computer. You want to learn all about it, discover how to use it, figure out what you want to install or tweak or upgrade. We are delighted by all the perks of our new house, with it's size, amenities, and charm.
There is just something so fun about moving (don't get me wrong, it's also draining.) You get a fresh start with your belongings, with your sense of style, with your habits. If things don't have a place, you don't have to unpack them! If furniture is too ugly (because you pulled it off the side of the road or bought it second-hand to make due because it's what you could afford), you don't have to bring it into your house (unless you have to save up for another while because you spent your lovely savings on the house, and the "old stuff" is still what you can afford... for now).
You look at rooms and see what they can be. You imagine them with your own flair, you envision how you will "fit" into them with your own lifestyle.
You see what has been with some sense of appreciation, knowing that it has been fully serviceable for many, many years (constituting "good bones" right?)
You think about taking an older house (or middle aged, for this neck of the woods), and giving it a new birth into a fresh start for a young family with many years ahead of them. You deliberate each change carefully, because there is the possibility that what you do might very well be called upon to last another 46 years. You want to do it right. Not just inexpensively or fashionably. You want functional, timeless, AND attractive all rolled up into one package.
You sense the excitement for all of the stomping and rushing around that's bound to happen over the next few decades. The walls that have been quiet for many years will soon reverberate with the clamor of young life. The school projects, the disagreements, the bedtime routines, the raw minds--fresh for memory making.
You recognize that there are many new places for exploring and hiding. Some of the places will end up off limits. Some will be filled up (but not for a long time!) Some will be available for typical childhood games.
Oh, the expansion! More rooms, more closets, more sinks, more toilets! There'll be lots of flushing and hand-washing in this house!
Then there's the other side of things (underneath). There's potential for organization.
There's potential for the hundreds of projects.
There's enough opportunity for long term, short term, indoor supply shelf, outdoor supply shelf, home improvement, auto repair, lawn care. A shelf for absolutely everything!
We've got lots to look forward to in this lovely new place of abode!
I am just happy about your home! ( and yes, that storage room...freaky wonderful!)
