We went camping last weekend.
It was awesome.
We went with our buddies, the Call family.
Blast-and-a-half.
(I made homemade graham crackers.
Good news: they were beyond delicious.
Bad news: now I can't buy them anymore.)
The Call's brought excellent foil dinners,
and Emily put me to [delicious] work.
I really have no idea what sparked the funny-face movement.
(Exception: Blake. He's much to0 mature)
Though, he did love eating his feet in the camping chair.
And he took the opportunity to show off his big, blue eyes...
...and his [very sharp] teeth.
This picture is of note. Brandon is holding his newest daughter, Lucy.
Lucy is less than six weeks younger than Blake.
(And just over half his weight, I believe).
(Remember that episode of the office where Dwight submits a complaint to HR saying that Jim would put a nickel into Dwight's phone hand-set every day...and then one day Jim took out all of the nickels...and when Dwight went to pick up the phone, he hit himself in the face...? Remember that? Well, that's sort of what it's like when I pick up Lucy.)
This is a little deceiving.
The sleeping arrangements we actually this:
Blake and Mom on the air mattress.
Ian on his mat and sleeping bag.
Joe improvising.
Can you think of anything more fun than playing in the back of the station wagon? I can't. The only difference is that--when I was a kid--the car was actually moving when I was playing.
What a fun weekend camping trip! I love the Blake smiling pic--and I still can't believe he has teeth. I am praying that his newest cousin does NOT follow the trend...
ReplyDeleteAs for the improvising: I guess I didn't count on Blake taking up a whole grown-up sleeping bag and my spot on the air mattress, and I didn't dare ask people to scoot around at midnight when I was done playing in the fire. So I tried my home-made sleeping bag without a ground pad... and found the 48 degree night just a smidge chilly for the fleece-only bag. Adding the picnic blanket as a layer made it perfect.
ReplyDeleteI was so glad to have a family campout before the year's out, since baby camping is so much easier than toddler camping.
The camping chair looks like a great hammock for Blake...kudos for you doing this with a little baby, no matter how big he is.
ReplyDeleteOH< I see Joe thinks baby camping is easier than toddler camping. I get that, actually.
Still!
What recipe did you use for the graham crackers? I've tried them before and they just didn't work.
