World Cup, Schmorld Cup.
Ha Ha. Just kidding! We love us some World Cup!
But we also love us some USA Polo.
Last Saturday we made our yearly jaunt to Portsmouth, Rhode Island to watch the U.S. Polo team play at Glen Farm.
We had lots of company from great friends and had a fantastic time! This was the second time we saw U.S. v. Scotland--and won't be the last.
Enough kilts and clan flags to last you a while.
Love, love, loved it.

Ian and buddy Makenna had a fun time running around with Joe during the halftime divot tread.

Polo brings out the best in all of us, don't you think?

...And it doesn't matter whether or not you're a "horse person." These animals were gorgeous. I mentioned to Ian that I liked the horses' "socks," (shin guards), and he replied, "Mom, they have socks....and shoes!" Smart boy.
His great-uncle is a farrier. We like that about him.

Father and son #2 at son #2's first polo match. We brought a hat and sunglasses for Blake.
He wasn't terribly interested.

See? I told you there were kilts.

And here is Sidney (one of the YW from our ward) with her favorite player of the day. I'm pretty sure she liked him for his incredible ability to play polo. Right?
Will you join us next year??

OK your title "World Cup, Smorld Cup." made me laugh because of this wikipedia article I read last night:

Don't ask me how I got to that article but it is actually very interesting. (The reference to your title is under the subheading "cultural variation".)
Oh, yes please. We'd love to join you for a polo match - especially against Scotland. We'll be there as soon as Evelyn is able to.
ReplyDeleteUmmm...I'll join you if you let me know!!! Sounds like a blast :) Send me the notice next year and I will so be there. And I will be fighting with the young women to take photos next to the hot polo players!
