As of Late

So, it gets dark pretty early around here...so if Joe wants any sort of semblance of outside time with Ian, he has to do it in the dark. =) We had a pretty good snow the other day, and Ian got a snowman-building kit for Christmas from his friend, Jacob.

Put two and two together, and you get.....

And then it was time to shovel the walks....Ian really likes to shovel.

Also yesterday, I had another ultrasound. This one was to measure the baby's size...which (WARNING! WARNING! STRONG OPINION AHEAD!) I think is a RIDICULOUS reason to have an ultrasound (they're rarely accurate and the information gleaned usually causes more trouble than it solves...i.e. unnecessary intervention). BUT. I'm always up for a sneak-peak. So I went with it.

Here's an okay profile--he likes to keep his hands by his face--they've been there every single time we've been in for an ultrasound. Further insight: his hands like to flail...but I didn't need an ultrasound to figure that out.

The doctors assure us that there isn't a way to tell if a foot is abnormally wide. I'm just going to maintain my constant vigil that this child inherited Joseph's feet. Shall we all hope together? Joe has lovely feet.

I used to think that face shots were freaky and weird. That is, until now. But I realize that most of you probably think it's freaky and weird. And that's okay. Because this is definitely a face that only a mother could love. (And, maybe a grandmother, or an aunt or uncle, or cousin or two). =)

  1. I LOVE ultrasound pics! But I totally agree with you on the 'ultrasound for measurement' reason. I had an ultrasound shortly before William was born, for that exact reason. They said he probably weighed around 9 pounds and measured close to 21 inches. Well, 2 weeks later when he arrived...he was 5 pounds and 17 inches long!!! Yeah, I'm sure the insurance companies love paying for those....(sorry, did I rant???)

  3. I can love that face too.

A friend of mine's doctor does an ultrasound at EVERY visit. I think that's insane. But my friend loves it.

And not to rub it in, but somehow the NW escaped winter this year. It's been sunny and in the high 50s this week. We went to the park for a picnic yesterday and the zoo today. You really should move to Seattle :-).

  4. Love the snowman: it's HUGE!!!

We haven't even built a snowman--the snow is just too dry & by the time it has any moisture in it, it's frozen solid! ARG.

Um. I love that face too! And the foot! And the profile! I love ultrasounds (although pre-parenthood I never could tell what the picture was) & am glad you got to have one, even though the dr.s excuse was lame.

  5. Love the pictures! I love the ultrasound photos. I had a receptionist who got her ultrasound photos and every single person who walked into the office had to see them, from VPs to random students, they all saw her baby. It was cute to see how excited she was.

  6. He's going to look like you I think. And I also think he was clapping his feet in that other picture. Not too much longer!
