We tend to get our apples from a farm near my parents' house--they have bushels of "drops" that we cook with all winter long. But we always try to get Ian out to pick a half-peck of apples every year. Kids should know where their food comes from...
It was a gorgeous day and we had a FANTASTIC time. Bonus points to the farm for having emus, elpacas, sheep, chickens AND John Deere tractors.

How many half-pecks could an Ian pick of an Ian could pick pecks...?

Couldn't resist.
Looks like a fun outing!!
I tried a pioneer woman recipe for apple dumplins recently (used 'drop apples')--TO DIE FOR. You should check it out. Or maybe you already have. It. Is. Heavenly. (and full of butter!)
This is what his Papa Pratt did as a boy.... GG
ReplyDeleteOh, oh, oh! You're making me MISS it!!!! LOVED apple picking - it was the first time ever that Eli willingly ate an apple - and he ate the WHOLE thing, core and ALL!
