Joe thinks I should post this picture. I think I would rather not. But I think Joe wins. And believe it or not, this is the compromise. =) (He wanted it to be on the Christmas card). HA!
Yeah, you can tell that I wasn't totally prepared and/or thrilled about this picture. But you know, we have to document the process, right?
So, as a baby update (and I'll be posting more pictures of our recent adventures soon, I promise) I'm about 23 weeks and feeling....good. The slight hesitation is for my new-found tension headaches, which you know...well....yeah, they're not fantastic or anything...but definitely bearable. Other than that, I'm doing far better than I was up until about 20 weeks. Who knew a person could throw up that much!!? =) Food is finally looking good (great!) again, and I'm back in the kitchen cooking.
For the record, Joe stepped it up big time in the culinary department. I didn't cook for a full five months, and he didn't once complain. I even caught him in the kitchen one night with three batches of cookies going all at once. "You don't bake anymore," he said, "I'm having withdrawals." And many people were the beneficiaries of Joe's withdrawals. In fact, our freezer is still hosting quite a few of Joe's withdrawals.
As far as we know and have been assured by our doctor, our baby boy is doing well--and measuring about a week big. (But when you consider his genetics, that comes as no surprise to me....I'm talking to YOU, Mr. Joe Jackson I weighed 9 pounds, 10 ounces). I wasn't much lighter, to be honest.
As for Ian, he's well anxious to be a big brother. In fact, he's so excited that he loves to insert himself into the Great Name Debate of 2009. At least 4 times per day, he'll turn to me and say, "Hey, Mom, what do you think of the name [fill in the blank]?" So far, his favorite name suggestions are Trotter, Kotter, Totter, and Motter. I am not making that up.
In all seriousness, we're starting to hope that this little boy is born with a name tag. So any name suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Really. Keep 'em comin'.
Pictures coming asap.
You are a beautiful mother Jen.. Gram
ReplyDeleteI echo Grammy Pratt! Darling photo, glad Joe requested it's posting!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update...23 weeks! AWESOME!.

GOOD LUCK!!
You look SO great! and I love your expression.
ReplyDeleteAs for the great name debate...remember my blog contest..well here is the post: http://jndrysdale.blogspot.com/2008/03/drysdale-baby-contest.html
lots and lots of ideas. (i had the text in white at one point so that's why you can't see it the actual text of the post...but the comments show up fine) Or go to nymbler.com to type in names you like and it will spit out other ideas you might like. Good luck!! When is the official due date?! okay, i'm off. I guess i should have eamiled!
You look great, Jen! And I'm SO glad that you're feeling better. And I don't know what's wrong with Ian's suggestions, I think Motter is a fabulous name ;)
ReplyDeleteJen - you look great! I second Shara's suggestion of Everett....a good, strong family name.
ReplyDeleteAww, you look fantastic!!! Look at all that glow radiating from your face. SO BEAUTIFUL. I love that pic. :)
ReplyDeleteNames... good luck, man. I know two people with boys named Ian, and they named their other boys Aidan & Joseph, so if that helps, there you go. I also quite like Connor & Nathan (ha!). Bennett? Camden? Ezra? Gavin? Levi? Liam? Parker? Paul? All have been on my 'boy name list' at some point.
Also, big babies = underrated. Especially if your provider doesn't freak out about them (and want to schedule an induction or cesarean for it, which is ridiculous in my opinion). Big babies tend to sleep better, nurse better, and are generally healthier. I'd take a 9lb baby over a 6lb baby any day!
ReplyDeleteLovely name ideas. So far all we can get from Kaylin is "baby sister." Yeah... that would look great on the birth certificate. I am sooooooo glad that you are liking food again. You look great in your picture!
ReplyDeleteLove it all! You look like a doll. (Do they make pregnant dolls?) You said, "he's measuring about a week big." ? Did you mean one week ahead of schedule? A week bigger? I hope he's measuring more than just ONE WEEK when you're 23 weeks. Oh dear, I'm confused.
ReplyDeleteAnd I just have to--
Liam
Noah
William
Nathan/Nathaniel
When are you due again? We're headed your way this Spring.
I would really, really love if you had that lovely photo as your Christmas card. Maybe you could just photoshop Joe and Ian in it and make it work! Sorry your pregnancy doesn't sound sublime. Love the child-being-born-with-a-nametag idea, though. You picked a great name for #1 so I have full faith your #2 choice will be just as snappy!
ReplyDeleteI love Liz's list!
ReplyDelete( not so much on Liam. mixed with Ian. when you say them together, which you WILL do often...it's a bit..Liamian, Ianliam...I don't know. Confusing! Liam winds up sounding like a leg or arm. )
Jeremy?
Caleb?
Kevin Costner?
well, anyway, Jen, you look really cute and great! Joseph was 2 weeks late. What WERE you waiting for Joe? I think that is when he got big on me. But he was a pleasant sort of delivery anyway. If there are those.
I am still pretty happy to hear Joseph cooked for months. Cooking is just one big science experiment, right?! and hopefully TASTY when it's done!
Ian's name suggestions remind me of the top boy names from a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteAiden, Hayden, Jayden, and Brayden were in the top 5. I kid you not.
You look great! I love your necklace. We're having a boy too! That's three for us:-) Boys are fun though, and yes Owen has his own kitchen garb as well.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought on that picture is you look just like your mother!!! I want to see more belly shots in the future, please.
ReplyDeleteNo ideas on names, sorry... though, I must veto Molly's suggestion of Liam because that is my bratty nephew's name (if you ever make this blog public, PLEASE delete my comment :) ). Plus it sounds too similar to "Ian," anyway!
